Ever wonder what is that dreamy cotton wear made of? Yes, the one you can spend your life for eternity or till it gives up on you! It is cotton, true, but not the ordinary one. It is a specially treated, super-soft kind of it.
Combed Cotton
The journey begins the same. Cotton flowers are picked, cleaned and sorted. But for combed cotton, the fibres are specially treated even before they are spun into a yarn. The treatment makes the yarn softer to touch and much stronger to sustain. This is what makes it premium but it also comes at a higher price. Articles made out of combed cotton are easily identified among others.
Combed cotton is much softer than the regular one because it’s threads are spun into longer ones as compared to the regular cotton, which means the short threads do not stick out to make the consumer’s experience uncomfortable. The length of the thread also gives strength to the end product. It is more durable, i.e. it will last longer than ordinary cotton.
While caring for the material, make sure you DO NOT use hot water. If you are a printer, you may need to mention on the wash-care tag that the items made with combed cotton must be washed with lukewarm water.
